6 Budget-Friendly Mom & Kids Traditions To Try!

My family is excited to start making cookies, trimming the tree, picking out ornaments, and spending quality time together. How about you?
While we are wishing time will slow down to treasure the moments with family & friends, sometimes the to-do list in preparation for the holidays make it seem impossible. The cost of hosting or just preparing for the holidays tend to add up.
Instead of rushing to buy every gift on the kid(s) Christmas list or working numerous hours of overtime to make all your family & friends happy, what if we focused on ways to create unforgettable memories with our family & friends on a budget.
You get to pick what you love most about this holiday season, but let's add a few fun new traditions to the list:
1. Host a Virtual or In-person Holiday Bingo Night
Yes that's right Christmas Bingo Night is amazing and a time for laughter. You can make randomized bingo cards to have specific words that fit the holidays or party's theme if you desire.
Once you've created random cards (or have your friends & family create their own), send them out to all your guests either before or at the beginning of your holiday gathering.
You are now completely ready to set up to play virtual or in-person Bingo with family and friends. Grab a festive cocktail, go over the rules, and get ready to watch your family and friends battle out who can fill up their game card first.
If you are hosting, you can take turns each round by allowing another friend or family member to switch places with you.
Finally prizes! Yes, you must get creative in what you want the winner to walk away with.
You can treat all your friends & family to some festive goodies for playing and create a special winner gift if you desire. This is guaranteed to be a great time for everyone, have fun, be merry, & bingo on!
2. Christmas Movie Night
Who doesn't love a good Christmas movie night? We all do, whether it's the same show each year or a new movie, watching Christmas movies with all the lights out except for the
Christmas trees and some hot chocolate have their own holiday magic.
3.Cookie Decorating
My daughter and I started a tradition where we set a day aside to make a batch of my special oatmeal and sugar cookies, and once they are cooled we decorate.
As my daughter gets older I plan to invite some of her friends over to join in on the party.
4. Visit Local Christmas Lights
In our community we normally host a Christmas lights drive thru which is really cool to see each year.
My daughter enjoys all the different displays of lights. We are considering taking her to see the Zoo Lights in our neighborhood, which is also a great idea if your city offers it.
5. Bless Others
Let the kids pick out a book or new toy to donate to a local organization for children in need. This is great for teaching children how to be a blessing to others during this holiday time.
6. Read Holiday Books
This is one of my favorite traditions I started, and my daughter absolutely loves it.
Collect Christmas and other holiday books, wrap them in festive paper, and have the kid(s) open one and read each day leading up to Christmas. I also added one new book each year to my daughters collection.
